Welcome to ISIMS 2023
Welcome to the 32nd International Conference on Ion Mobility Spectrometry in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) has grown from specialized security and military devices to high performance analytical instrumentation used in academic research and in a broad field of applications. IMS has also become an enabling feature for mass spectrometry to measure the otherwise impossible. For three decades, the annual conference of the International Society for Ion Mobility Spectrometry (ISIMS) has been serving as the essential meeting among ion mobility spectrometry researchers and application scientists worldwide. The ISIMS conference facilitates sharing of the latest research achievements and fosters new collaboration opportunities.
The conference encompasses many technical aspects of IMS, from cutting edge research to novel applications. In addition, the short course, which precedes the conference, gives an excellent training to the theory and applications of IMS.
The ISIMS 2023 will take place in Maastricht, the Netherlands. The conference hotel, the Crowne Plaza Hotel, is located in the heart of Maastricht along the river Meuse. Maastricht can be divided into two areas; the city center and “Wyck”. The Hotel is located in “Wyck”, mainly known as the “coziest” area of Maastricht, with small boutiques and restaurants. You will find a variety of restaurants ranging from 10 Euro meals to Michelin Star kitchens. The Stars of Europe, a European Union monument to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Maastricht Treaty, is just a short walk from the hotel.
Maastricht is a compact and safe city – a lot can be done on foot, by bike or by public transportation. From the hotel, necessities are near by. For example, the Maastricht Central Station is within walking distance (10 minutes).
The 2023 ISIMS Conference is organized by Prof. Maarten Honing and Helen Schott (Maastricht University, the Netherlands), André Ahrens (Leibniz University Hannover|Thermo Fisher Scientific, Germany), Chris Prüfert (University of Victoria, Canada), Maggie Tam (Canada Border Services Agency, Canada), and Izabela Wolańska (Military University of Technology, Poland).
Looking forward to meeting you in Maastricht!
