The International Society for Ion Mobility Spectrometry (ISIMS) was founded as a Scholarly Society in 1996.  The ISIMS is a  501(c)(3) non-profit corporation registered in New Mexico, US, since 2009.

The Society consists of members from academia, government, and industry, who work in ion mobility spectrometry and related fields. The ISIMS hosts an annual conference. Unlike most professional meetings, the annual conference maintains a relaxed tone, with an intention for IMSers to share details of studies without the pressures sometimes present at large national or international conferences.  Incomplete and progressive studies are encouraged.
